What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is an FDA approved medication used for chronic weight management in people with BMI of 27 or higher. It is the active medication in brands such as Ozempic and Wegovy. This class of medication is known as GLP-1 agonists since they activate glucagon-like-peptide-1 receptors.

How does it works?

Semaglutide is an injection taken weekly that works by lowering blood glucose and modulates digestion that promotes feeling full longer. This ultimately decreases cravings for food and therefore leads to overall lower dietary intake.

Who is eligible for treatment?

Anyone with a BMI of 27 or higher is eligible for treatment.

What does it cost?

There is an initial 4 month trial that starts at $125 per month (billed once at initiation). If you decide to continue, the price will be based on the dosage which will be scaled according to progress, tolerance of the medication and lab results.
